New Year’s Resolutions for 2019

2019 is already here and as the New Year rolls around, we all start with some resolutions that we would like to achieve.

I have come up with ten of them that I would like to accomplish this year.

1.Exploring a creative hobby.

Whether you want to pick up a new instrument, learn how to paint, practice a new sport and do something that fuels your creativity. Everyone has ideas in them and it is fun to let them out and create new things.

2.Design your habits
Make a conceptual map of how you want your life to be next year, be it meditating, waking up early, drinking more water, etc.

3. Let go of bad habits
If you have a hard time doing this then maybe talking to a friend will make you more accountable and more likely to let go of the bad habit.

4. Invest in yourself
Be it in furthering your education, taking a day off to meditate, eat healthier foods, travel etc.

5. Put your finances in order
A New Year is a great opportunity to start saving money. If you listen to Dave Ramsey, like I do, you’d know that having an emergency fund to fall on when something comes up is a life saver. Saving up 3-6 months of expenses is even better.

6. Start investing your money
If you already have an emergency fund, then you should start looking at investing the rest of your money. Leaving the money in a checking account when you could make money off of them is never a good idea.

7. Read one new book every month
You can start with only a few pages a day, before you go to sleep or during your commute (if you take a bus or train).

8. Try listening to audiobooks
For all of you that can’t seem to find the time to read as much, maybe audiobooks are a better idea. You can listen do them while driving or walking around. has a vast selection of audiobooks for every taste.

9. Spend more time with family
Make sure to regularly maintain relationships and call your parents at least once a week, or if you live in the same city, visit them more often.

10. Trying to be more eco friendly
Last year I decided to go plant based and not only is this diet great for the animals and our health, it also has great benefits for the environment.
One way I could improve is to start buying less packaged foods to reduce the amount of plastic I consume. I already recycle because in my city there is a recycling program, but I want to do more.
I bought a glass water bottle and I will purchase less frozen items, as they are always in a plastic packaging, and more in the grocery aisle of the supermarket, which now has only biodegradable bags.

What about you? What are your New Year’s resolutions for 2019?
